How the festival information here is prepared
Festival information on TyoharKosh is provided for general information and has been compiled using available Panchang and festival references. Dates, tithis, puja timings and other details can sometimes vary by location, by Panchang calculation and by regional tradition. Please verify time-sensitive details locally before planning a ritual or ceremony. Our aim is to give you useful information, and never to mislead anyone.
When a timing depends on the place, such as sunrise, moonrise, Rahu Kaal or a muhurat, we say which place it was worked out for. The start and end of a tithi happen at the same moment across India. Where regional calendars disagree, for example on the Durga Puja dates in Bengal, we show both and label them.
Please keep in mind
- Timings: panchang timings are calculated for New Delhi (IST). Sunrise, moonrise, Rahu Kaal and muhurats differ by city, and different panchangs can vary by a few minutes or, for some festivals, by a day. Please confirm with your local panchang or family priest before a ritual.
- Traditions: stories, bhog, colours and puja steps follow commonly practised traditions. Your family or community may follow different customs, and those are equally valid.
- Fasting and health: nothing on this site is medical advice. If you are unwell, pregnant, elderly or on regular medication, please speak to your doctor before fasting.
- Images: the artwork on this site is illustrative and is not a photograph of any particular temple or pandal.
This site is shared in good faith for general religious and cultural guidance. For your own puja, your family priest and your local panchang remain the best guide.
